Community Service
Thank you for looking at the Humane Society to complete your community service hours. We receive many inquiries and know several schools require students to complete a specific number of community service hours. We are grateful that you want your community service hours to benefit the animals here.
Because volunteers working directly at the shelter must be 18 years old and make at least a four month commitment, we encourage you to work on an independent community service project as suggested below. Please contact the Program Manager to sign up to do your community service hours with us and to discuss your preferred project.
Project examples:
- Collect items for the shelter from our wish list.
- Organize a small fundraising event like a car wash, bake sale or garage sale and use the profits to donate to a specific HSWM fund, our general operating fund or sponsor an animal's adoption fee.
- Or come up with your own idea. Be creative, the opportunities are endless.
- When your project is completed, contact Mariah to make an appointment to bring your donations and/or present your project to the shelter. At that time you will receive a tour of the shelter and a signature on your completed hours. You will see first hand how your efforts will make a difference for animals at the Humane Society of Western Montana and in the community.
