Lost and Found Pet Information

If you have lost an animal, please follow these steps:

  1. Submit a Lost Report (click here) or Call the shelter (549.HSWM)
  2. Call Missoula County Animal Control (541.7387)
  3. Call the Missoulian (721.6200) to run a free three-day ad in the classified lost and found section
  4. Post a lost report on Craigslist
  5. Post a flyer at convenience and grocery stores, mailboxes, etc. near the site of your animal's disappearance

If you have found an animal, please follow these steps:

  1. Submit a Found Report (click here) or Call the shelter (549.HSWM)
  2. Call Missoula County Animal Control (541.7387)
  3. Decide what to do with the stray. You can keep the animal while you look for the owner, call Animal Control to pick him/her up, or bring the animal to the shelter or Animal Control (if in the county) during normal business hours.
  4. If you keep the animal, call the Missoulian (721.6200) to run a found ad
  5. Post a flyer at convenience and grocery stores, mailboxes, etc. near the site where the animal was found
  6. Post a found report on Craigslist
  7. Please call us when the matter is resolved
